Mobile Networks & Coverage in Fiji

e1sim Fiji plans run on Vodafone Fiji — the country's largest operator, with 4G LTE across Viti Levu's tourist spine: Nadi, Denarau Island, the Coral Coast resorts, Suva and the Sun Coast up to Rakiraki. Coverage extends offshore to the resort islands of the Mamanucas — and much of the Yasawa chain — thanks to towers with long over-water reach.

Set island expectations honestly: main-island towns and the popular resort islands are well covered, but remote Yasawa bays, Taveuni's far side, Kadavu and the outer Lau group thin out to patchy or resort-Wi-Fi-only. Signal often works on the boat transfers between islands, then dips in sheltered coves. Download offline maps for island-hopping, and remember that most resorts add Wi-Fi where the network fades.

Mamanucas, Yasawas & the Coral Coast — the South Pacific Postcard

Fiji is 333 islands of the South Pacific at its friendliest — a country whose greeting, "Bula!", comes with a warmth that consistently tops world-friendliness rankings. Most trips start at Nadi and fan out to the Mamanucas: a scatter of white-sand islets twenty minutes to two hours offshore by catamaran, where Cloud 9 floats a pizza bar over turquoise water, Monuriki starred as Tom Hanks' island in Cast Away, and Cloudbreak throws one of the heaviest, most famous waves in surfing. North of them stretch the Yasawas — wilder, taller volcanic islands strung along a daily hop-on-hop-off ferry, with the limestone Sawa-i-Lau caves (swim through a hidden passage into a sunlit chamber), manta rays gliding through the channels from May to October, and beach bungalows from backpacker to barefoot-luxury.

Viti Levu itself deserves more than a transit day. The Coral Coast rolls resorts, village visits and the family-favourite Kula Wild Adventure Park along the southern shore; Sigatoka's sand dunes hide ancient burial sites in a national park; and Pacific Harbour bills itself the adventure capital — river rafting the Upper Navua gorge, ziplines, and the world's best-known shark dive, cage-free among bull sharks in Beqa Lagoon. Inland, the Nausori Highlands and Navala village keep traditional thatched bure architecture alive, and a jet-boat safari up the Sigatoka river ends with kava in a chief's village. In the capital Suva, colonial arcades, the Fiji Museum's war canoes and the South Pacific's liveliest market fill a rainy-day itinerary.

Divers and honeymooners push further: Vanua Levu's Savusavu — a yachtie hideout with hot springs and pearl farms — and Taveuni, the "Garden Island", where the Rainbow Reef's Great White Wall drops in a curtain of soft coral, Bouma waterfalls tumble through national-park rainforest, and the 180th meridian crosses the island so you can stand with a foot in two calendar days. Time a visit for a village sevusevu ceremony, a meke dance night or a lovo feast cooked underground — Fijian culture is not a show put on for visitors; you are simply invited in.

eSIM vs Roaming in Fiji

The South Pacific is one of the priciest roaming regions anywhere: European and North American carriers typically bill Fiji at €10–20 per day or raw per-megabyte rates, and many "global" bundles skip it entirely. An e1sim prepaid plan from around €5.40 covers a whole allowance for less than a single roaming day.

With an eSIM there is no airport counter after a 10-hour flight: buy online before departure, scan the QR from your email, and data works when you land at Nadi International. Plans are data-only — calls run over WhatsApp and Messenger, which is exactly how Fijian resorts, boat transfers and tour desks coordinate anyway. Resort Wi-Fi fills the gaps on the remotest islands.
